Pulse hangs when attempting to use large collections

I have a collection of 2,000 or so wallpapers in a wallbase collection that I wanted Pulse to use as a pool to pull wallpapers from randomly. But whenever I attempt to use it, the program just hangs or nothing happens. I tried it on a smaller collection of 10 wallpapers and it worked fine. How does Pulse queue wallpapers in collections for downloading and displaying them? Is there any way to fix this?

I found that wallbase has a nested collection feature, so I made a script that would divide a bigger collection into smaller 100-photo collections. This seems to sidestep the problem pulse has generating an xml file image cache for the 2,000 photo collection.

Normally Pulse only pulls in 100 images by default, but with a collection/favorite then it will pull them all in. 2,000 images is a lot for Pulse to handle, so it doesn't surprise me that it was hanging.

There are some tweaks I could make I'm sure, but it sounds like you've found a workaround for the time being.
